The Challenge
A globally iconic beer brand was facing a long-term threat in one of its most important markets. Its drinker base was ageing, and the brand had been steadily losing cultural relevance with younger audiences across the Africa region. Without intervention, long-term growth was at risk.
The Work
We took a two-stage approach. First, a deep market, consumer, category and cultural analysis to understand how consumption was shifting and where the most compelling future growth platforms lay. Second, the identification and development of a new growth platform – ensuring the brand’s existing positioning remained relevant for future audiences through evolved communications, activation and innovation strategies.
The Impact
The growth strategy provided a clear framework for creative and channel execution across the Africa region. The results were significant: global sales grew 18% and the brand returned to profit – demonstrating the power of cultural relevance as a commercial driver.
